He looks so handsome. Taylor couldn’t have found a better man.
Taylor Alison Swift, who turned 28 on Wednesday, is currently under fire for an Instagram post she shared on her birthday. At first glance, it’s pretty harmless: a wide shot of Taylor performing at the Jingle Bell Ball in London along with a caption thanking her fans. She’s excited about being 28 and is looking forward to the Reputation tour.
And the comments feature is turned off. Great! And then there’s this line in the same caption: “I couldn’t have asked for a better year.” Naturally, Twitter has been buzzing with folks offering to correct Taylor’s sentiments about 2017. People were not happy with her remarks, as it was anything but a “better year.
“Swifties came to their leader’s defense, noting that Taylor was just celebrating her birthday and a good, personal year. And from Taylor’s perspective, her 2017 was solid: she released Reputation (which has gone 3x platinum), performed on SNL, won her countersuit for sexual assault, and covered TIME with fellow “Silence Breakers” for its Person of the Year issue, which highlighted women who spoke out against sexual assault and harassment this year.
