Pennsylvania GovernorJosh Shapiro confirmed the crash, stating that all available state resources are being deployed to assist in the response.
The timing of the crash has sparked outrage and questions, coming just one day after a separate aviation disaster in Washington, D.C. Flight data revealed that the small jet took off from the airport at 6:06 p.m. but disappeared from radar approximately 30 seconds later after reaching an altitude of 1,600 feet (487 meters).
