Buku Abi opens up about her traumatic childhood experiences with her father, R. Kelly, in a new docuseries
In a heart-wrenching revelation, Buku Abi, the eldest daughter of R. Kelly, has come forward with allegations of abuse by her father. In the docuseries “Karma: A Daughter’s Journey,” Abi, formerly known as Joann Kelly, recounts the harrowing experiences she endured as a child. She claims that the convicted singer molested her when she was around 8 or 9 years old.
“I just remember waking up to him touching me,” the 26-year-old artist tearfully recalls. Abi, who shares her father with ex-wife Drea Kelly, describes how she felt paralyzed with fear and disbelief. “I didn’t know what to do, so I just kind of laid there and pretended to be asleep,” she admits.
