Patrick Mahomes insists he’ll ‘try to keep as much flexibility’ as he can for the Chiefs’ salary cap after winning third Super Bowl MVP as he praises coach Andy Reid and GM Brett Veach for ‘drafting great’ young talents

On Monday’s press conference, the quarterback praised coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach for surrounding him with reliable young players.

‘I’ll try to keep as much flexibility as I can as far as the [salary] cap and stuff like that but it’s a credit to all the people they got around me,’ Mahomes said. n 2003 and 2004. Having won, his third title in red and white, Mahomes continued to praise the front office and the coaching staff’s ability to develop championship-caliber players. ‘They’re finding these guys that they can bring in to play and develop,’ Mahomes said. ‘Our coaching staff is developing players. I always speak to our DBs, I mean we have five or six guys who are [in] year one, year two and then you have [L’Jarius] Sneed. I mean we have guys that continue to get better and better.’

Mahomes mentioned wide receiver Rashee Rice who caught for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in his first season. The rookie went on to get 262 receiving yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.All you do is go to work every single day and try to bring guys along,’ Mahomes said. ‘I thought Rashee Rice did a great job this year.

 

‘Just continue to get better and better, and that’s what great football teams need- guys that keep coming into the culture we have built here. Keep getting better evert single year.’
