Incredible footage has resurfaced on social media of a host of NFL analysts – including Shannon Sharpe, Stephen A. Smith and Cris Carter – questioning the Chiefs’ decision to select him as their first-round pick back in 2017In a viral clip, their damning assessments of the Mahomes draft pick are played alongside snippets from Dorsey’s press conference at the time, in which he predicted their new signing would go on to prove his doubters wrong.
Sharpe, working for FOX Sports’ Undisputed back in 2017, said about the Chiefs’ decision: ‘Patrick Mahomes, I don’t like it. I do not like this pick.Smith also claimed Mahomes was not a more worthy draft pick than Deshaun Watson, who is yet to win a Super Bowl after stints with the Houston Texans and the Cleveland Browns.
‘Just like I said to you [Mitchell] Trubisky doesn’t have the resume that tells me that he’s better than Deshaun Watson,’ the ESPN First Take regular said. ‘I dare sure ain’t gonna say that Patrick Mahomes does.’
Dorsey, meanwhile, was fully convinced that Kansas City’s new quarterback would justify their faith.
