Meghan Markle shines at Oprah’s Book Club as Prince Harry’s memoir steals the spotlight.
Meghan Markle made an appearance at Oprah Winfrey’s book club event in California last night, but the spotlight wasn’t only on her. As the Duchess of Sussex took the stage, her husband Prince Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare, stood front and center in the bookstore, making sure the royal drama wasn’t far from anyone’s mind. It was a gathering of the stars, but the presence of Spare on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’sdeath anniversary set a poignant tone for the evening.
The book club, held at the newly opened Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, was just a few miles from Meghan and Harry’s Montecito mansion. The event, hosted by Oprah, saw a mix of A-listers and spiritual figures, including Marco Leone and Dr. Jennifer Freed, who took to social media to praise Meghan’s presence. But all eyes were glued to the “hometown hero” shelf, where Harry’s memoir held prime real estate, solidifying his new identity in California.
