Liam Payne’s tragic death has taken an unexpected turn, as his friend Roger Nores and two hotel staff members have had manslaughter charges against them dropped. The investigation centers around the events that unfolded in October 2024 when the former One Direction singer fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Argentina.
On Wednesday, a court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to hold Nores and the hotel employees accountable for the singer’s death. The ruling stated that even if they had been present with Payne at all times, it was unlikely they could have prevented him from obtaining the drugs and alcohol that contributed to his state of intoxication at the time of the incident. The court noted, “It cannot be ruled out that, even if he had taken those extreme precautions… [Payne] would have managed to obtain the substances anyway, as is common among addicts.”
