Is Andy Reid a first ballot Hall of fame coach?
Andy Reid had all the accolades a great head football coach could have except for a Super Bowl title. The title that had eluded Reid during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs is now over.
Big Red got his Super Bowl ring, and it guaranteed him a spot in the hallowed halls of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Before the game, I would have had Reid as a sure-fire Hall of Famer. Outside of Bill Belichick, Reid has been the best coach of his generation despite the lack of a Super Bowl. After 14 points in the fourth quarter vs. the San Francisco 49ers, the one thing missing from Reid’s resume has been added to his Hall of Fame bona fides.
For the first three quarters, it looked like Reid, and by extension the Chiefs, might be suffering from a football curse. The Chiefs have had several painful postseason losses and Reid has fallen short in heart-breaking fashion on the precipice of the champions stage too many times.
