“He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time”
Kylie — who has been married to Travis’ brother Jason Kelce since 2018 — sat down with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on the Monday, April 1, episode of the Today show, where she expressed her enthusiasm over Travis’ happiness in his romance with Swift.
“Ultimately, if Trav’s happy, we’re happy. We are always cheering on Uncle Trav,” Kylie, who shares three young daughters with Jason, told the Today cohosts. “It’s such a treat to be able to do that on and off the field. It’s been amazing.”
All eyes have been on Travis and Swift ever since the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed on his and Jason’s “New Heights” podcast that he attempted to give Swift his phone number after one of her Kansas City Eras Tour shows over the summer. While the initial meet-cute plan was a fail, the pair ultimately connected and debuted their relationship in September 2023 — with Swift cheering for Travis alongside his mom, Donna Kelce, as the Chiefs defeated the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.
“I can tell you this: He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time,” Donna told WSJ Magazine on Travis and Swift’s relationship in November 2023. God bless him. “He shot for the stars!”
While Travis and Jason were at comfortable with their mother meeting the pop singer, they joked about being frightened when they saw Swift interacting with their father, Ed Kelce, at a game a month earlier.
Yeah, Taylor talking to Dad,” Travis told his brother on an October 2023 episode of New Heights. “You know Dad, like I know Dad —” “He shouldn’t be talking to Taylor Swift,” Jason quipped, as Jason joked, “This is a terrifying conversation, I felt terrible for Taylor for being in this.”
The brothers admitted to giving their father a hard time, with Jason joking that their father told Swift, “Bless his heart.” He responded, ‘Now I’ve stolen all of your CDs out of the local library and burned them onto my computer. Jason and Kylie met after matching on Tinder and made plans to meet at a pub.
Jason, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, paid homage to his wife in an emotional speech on the night they met. “I won’t forget the Eagles’ Christmas party in 2014 and heading out afterwards with a bunch of my teammates to Buffalo Billiards where my life would change forever.
That night, I’d meet my future wife. I still remember the moment she walked through the door,” he remembered, tearing up. “It was like she glided through the opening, an aura around her. Then she started talking and I thought, ‘Man, is this what love feels like?’ She was beautiful and smart, serious yet playful. I knew it right away.”
Kylie, for her part, recalled that night in not such as glowing terms while on Today on Monday, confirming that Jason actually fell asleep at the bar that night.
