Before Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck gave love a second chance, she had an intense romance with Alex Rodriguez. Lopez and the baseball star met in 2005 at a Yankee game, and they started dating over a decade later in 2017, after running into each other.

By 2018, Lopez was hinting that she wanted to marry Rodriguez. Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in 2019, but the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic pushed their marriage timeline far into the future. Unfortunately, their relationships couldn’t withstand the test of time. The couple officially called off their engagement in April 2021.

Rodriguez and Lopez appeared to end their engagement on good terms. He’s been dating Jaclyn Cordeiro since 2022. However, a source claims that Rodriguez disapproved of Lopez moving on so quickly from him to Affleck after their breakup.

“Alex fell apart when J .Lo ran off with Ben,” a source told In Touch Weekly, according to Yahoo. “He felt like she tossed him out with the trash when she got a better offer from Ben and it did a huge number on him. He went from planning a wedding to watching her marry someone else in what felt like the blink of an eye. It was the worst year of his life, and to make things 10 times worse, J. Lo didn’t have an ounce of empathy for him. She flaunted her romance with Ben every chance she got.”

The source added that Rodriguez is enjoying “watching” the “train wreck” of Affleck and Lopez’s marriage after several reports suggest they are headed for divorce. “He still harbors a lot of resentment towards J. Lo and feels more than justified in it,” the source claimed.
